The Growth Partnership

The Collins Center for Public Policy, Inc. has established The Growth Partnership to work with community groups, private developers and investors, and government agencies to promote cooperation and to create consensus. Through these cooperative relationships, The Growth Partnership will succeed in building mixed-use, pedestrian-friendly, public transportation-oriented downtown neighborhoods that will benefit these and the communities beyond these often declining areas.

Growth Partnership Highlights

Overtown Civic Partnership and Design Center
The Overtown Civic Partnership and Design Center assists neighborhood residents and institutions to visualize, plan and execute a comprehensive community and economic development program to create a vibrant mixed-income, and mixed-used neighborhood.

Redevelopment of Folklife Village Discussed
The Collins Center recently held an Overtown Folklife Village Redevelopment Workshop to discuss the area's goals and objectives.

Articulation Meetings Continue Identifying Successful Development
The Collins Center held the second of four E3 Articulation meetings to help define measures of success and to strategize approaches to project development.

South Florida Community Groups Attend National Summit
In November 2002, a National Summit on Equitable Development, Social Justice and Smart Growth was held in Los Angeles. The purpose of this summit was to explore strategies and policies that build livable communities and connect low-wealth people to resources and opportunities.

Regionalism
The Collins Center believes that solving problems and seizing opportunities are best done on a regional basis. Especially in South Florida, where future growth will impact the region's environment, economy, and the social equity of its people, the Collins Center has led the way in focusing political, business, and community leaders on examining challenges and opportunities from a regional perspective.
