Collins Center Provides Free RV Lemon-Law Mediation Program
Florida's Recreation Vehicle Mediation and Arbitration Program (the Florida Motor Vehicle Warranty Enforcement Act ("Lemon Law)), approved by the Office of the Attorney General, is administered by the Collins Center. The Program provides alternative dispute resolution to consumers and manufacturers of recreation vehicles sold in Florida.
Purchasers of new or demonstrator recreation vehicles (not van or truck conversions) should be provided with the "Consumer Guide to the Florida Lemon Law" by their selling dealer at the time of purchase. The Consumer Guide contains a section that explains Lemon Law coverage for recreation vehicles. Recreation vehicle manufacturers are also required to inform consumers how and where to file a claim.
Applications are filed by the consumer with the Collins Center. If a claim is determined to be eligible, the Collins Center will schedule a mediation conference and an arbitration hearing if needed. The Collins Center provides all parties with support and assists consumers in navigating the requirements.
There is no charge to consumers for this program, program fees are paid by the recreation vehicle manufacturers as required by statute.
